From the moment you see those pink lines, you are irrevocably changed. From then on out, all the choices you make are linked to this little one's wellbeing.

As your journey unfolds, you may find yourself navigating a wide range of emotions, expectations, and decisions. From the realities of pregnancy and postpartum, to diagnoses, physical and emotional symptoms, the birth experience, feeding choices, and so much more.

It can be so hard to handle all the unknowns that pregnancy comes with, and to navigate the pressure of trying to do your best for your baby.

After your baby arrives, it’s completely normal for emotions to feel more intense and unpredictable. Hormonal shifts, lack of sleep, and the adjustment to a new role can all contribute to feeling overwhelmed at times. At the same time, it can be difficult to know when those feelings might be something more. Having someone to talk about these things can make a meaningful difference in your pregnancy and postpartum journey.

I am here to provide that one-on-one support to tell you that you are not alone, that it is okay to not feel okay, and to help provide the guidance and validation that you may need.

Therapy services can be offered virtually, to meet your individual needs and provide flexibility, or as walk-and-talk therapy in the Livermore/Pleasanton area.

I also offer therapy services to moms who are past the postpartum stage but struggling with the ongoing challenges of parenting and relationships.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed by the mental load, burned out, or stretched thin by the emotional demands of motherhood and being a spouse, I can provide support.

Therapy for couples navigating pregnancy and postpartum
Pregnancy and postpartum bring on many changes for the relationship. As you prepare to welcome and adjust to life with a new baby, even the strongest partnerships can feel the strain of shifting roles, expectations, and responsibilities.

You and your partner may find yourselves navigating new challenges, including how to communicate, differences in parenting or feeding decisions, changes in intimacy, sleep deprivation, or the emotional impact of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum recovery. These experiences are common, but they can still feel overwhelming and isolating.

Couples therapy offers a supportive space to slow down, reconnect, and strengthen your relationship during this transition. Together, we can work to improve communication, deepen understanding, and help you feel more like a team moving forward.

What Will Therapy for Pregnant and Postpartum Moms & Couples Look Like?

I take a whole-family approach to perinatal mental health. That means that I hope to include all parts of the family system in our work together.

I also know and understand that as a pregnant mom or postpartum parent, life gets extremely busy and hard to predict. Between the many doctor’s appointments in pregnancy and the unpredictability of having a baby, I know that adding therapy to the schedule can be hard. That is why I offer both walk-and-talk therapy in person and virtual appointments. Baby is also welcome to be a part of sessions if that is what you wish, or you can use the time for yourself. A lot of moms find walk-and-talk therapy to be very beneficial for their mental health.

In our first sessions together, I want to learn all about you. This will include me listening to your story as well as asking questions. I will also include some screening questionnaires to help me get the full picture and ensure your safety and well-being.

Overall, I offer empathy, understanding, patience, and support. I know that this time can be extremely hard for some parents, and I want to offer a space to process this transition.
