You are tired of fighting the same fights day after day. Maybe you are feeling lonely, even though your days are spent with your partner right next to you.
You may be desperately trying to figure out how to communicate, but when it comes down to it, you cannot get it right. You may need someone to hear both sides and help slow things down.I offer couples therapy to couples in all stages of their relationship. Whether you are just beginning and dealing with past triggers, attachment issues, or you are preparing for marriage, or navigating the struggles of parenthood, I am here to support.Couples therapy can be extremely daunting and highly emotional. My approach is to establish a safe space and trust between us.
Premarital Counseling
Premarital counseling is available in-person in the Livermore/Pleasanton area and through telehealth to residents in California.
Laying a strong foundation for your marriage is one of the most valuable investments you can make in your future together.Premarital counseling provides the opportunity to look inward and recognize patterns of behavior that may lead to conflict in the relationship and discover how to break that cycle.
Counseling can also provide the safe space that is needed to discuss your values as a couple, as well as explore topics such as finances, religion, preparing for parenthood, moving in together, and other major life changes that can lead to anxiety and uncertainty in the relationship.
What Does Couples Therapy Look Like?
The first session will be an intake where I learn about how you met, how you fell in love, and where you are today.
The following two sessions I will meet with you individually. In these sessions, I will ask you both the same questions to learn about your past and who you are as a person. From there, we will meet together again, and we will lay the foundation for our work together.
The tools that I use for couples therapy include:
The Gottman Method - focuses on building friendship, conflict resolution, and finding shared values
Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy - focuses on identifying patterns, restructuring emotional responses, and building secure bonds between partners
Relational Life Therapy - recognize unhealthy patterns, heal past trauma and “inner child”, and learn new skills
